WHEREAS the concept of harm reduction regards drug use as inevitable, as well as a lifestyle option; and

WHEREAS the implementation of harm reduction is supposed to reduce the health and social problems associated with drug use; and

WHEREAS a drug injection site was established in Vancouver in 2003 to further the harm reduction policy in Canada; and

WHEREAS studies indicate that the drug injection site has had no impact on the key issues that supposedly warranted its existence; curtailing the spread of IV and other blood borne diseases; stopping the drug addiction by getting addicts into treatment; reducing overdose deaths and reducing of public disorder,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Vancouver Injection Site in Vancouver be closed and that no further injection sites be established in Canada.

FURTHER, be it resolved that alternatives to the harm reduction policy, including drug prevention, treatment and enforcement be implemented to reduce drug use in Canada.
