WHEREAS Homemakers suffer from discrimination in the matter of taxation, since two-income couples are permitted to pay income tax on the individual incomes, while two-parent, one-income couples are not permitted to split the income for income tax purposes, and must pay the full higher rate for the husband’s income, even though the total family income may be the same as the two-income family;

BE IT RESOLVED that REAL Women of Canada promote equality of taxation through income splitting for one-income families for the purposes of taxation, and alternately that single income families be taxes at a lower rate than two-income families.
