At the time homosexuals were striving to achieve their goal of same sex-marriage and the right to adopt children, they claimed that all they wanted was freedom from discrimination for their relationships. This was duplicitous on their part. The problem is not with who homosexuals are, but rather with their insistence that their beliefs and lifestyle should be imposed on all society.
Their true agenda is that they do not merely want “tolerance” for their beliefs and lifestyle, but instead demand total, unquestioning acceptance of their behaviour and lifestyle. They insist that all opposition to their agenda must be silenced, and that no debate be permitted. Homosexual activists are totalitarians. They attempt to discredit those holding opposing opinions, by ridicule and name calling, such as “hateful”, “bigots” and “homophobes”. They resort to intimidation and legal threats against those opposing them and insist on boycotts of businesses which do not support their agenda.
Just look to the owner of the US Chick-Fil-A restaurants, whose founder and owner is a Christian who supports traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and who closes his restaurants on Sundays. Totalitarian homosexual activists demand that business licences be denied the restaurant chain. Homosexual pressure against Chick-Fil-A, however, appears to have failed, as the restaurant is now the third largest restaurant chain in the US, just behind McDonald’s and Starbucks.
Nevertheless these homosexual activists persist in making any one who disagrees with the homosexual agenda, their target. In short, the activists demand that anyone opposing their views must be disqualified from participating in society.
This totalitarian approach was evidenced in Picton, Ontario, in June, 2019, when a Catholic priest wrote in his parish bulletin that Catholics and other Christians should not attend homosexual pride events. Homosexual activists described his statement as “hate” and launched a mail campaign asking the priest’s bishop to remove him from his parish. They also arranged a protest outside his church during Mass.
Who do these homosexuals think they are, dictating to a religious faith? How dare they demand the priest’s removal! Their action is evidence of their arrogance and characteristic ruthless intolerance of those who do not conform to their views.
Another example of homosexual bullying occurred in July 2019 when activists demonstrated outside the Vancouver Public Library. What was the library’s offence?
It had rented out space to speakers who dared to assert that “transwomen are not women and should not be treated as women”. Fortunately the chief librarian stood her ground on the bases of the library’s policy of “commitment to free speech and intellectual freedom”. The University of BC was an offender for a similar reason when it allowed space for speakers against transgenderism. The totalitarianism of homosexual activists targeting free speech at these institutions demand that these institutions not only support LGBTQ policies but also that the institutions must also be prohibited from renting space to anyone who holds a different opinion than theirs. An outrageous position.
Homosexual activists are dangerous in a civilized democratic society. They must not be allowed to dictate the culture and values of our country.
It is time for them to move on from immature name calling, threats and intimidation and accept that we live in a democracy, where freedom of opinion is a fundamental right and where open debate is basic to our country. Yet, homosexual activists continue to demonize, stigmatize, and marginalize any opposition. They are supported in their unsavoury tactics by the viciously partisan media, which willingly provide these activists with a platform to promote their cause, but deny publishing space or network time to those who oppose the homosexual agenda.
In pursuit of their agenda, homosexual activists have used fraud. For example, they have used deceitful advocacy studies that employ unsound research methods in order to support homosexual/lesbian couples’ adoption of innocent children, even though competent academic studies indicate beyond any doubt that children thrive best in a home with a mother and a father.
Another example of fraudulent research is the article published in the professional journal Social Science and Medicine in December 2014. This study had to be retracted, in February 2019, because of blatant errors in the research. The retracted article had claimed that LGBT persons experience negative health consequences due to the suffering and stigma they experience in society. Activists attempted to use this study as a tool to pressure opponents to submit to their demands.
A bombshell study was published in August 23, 2016, in The New Atlantis, which is a well known journal of science, technology and ethics, based in Washington, DC. This article analysed the scientific evidence of LGBT issues published to date in scientific journals.
The researchers reviewed hundreds of peer reviewed studies on sexual orientation and gender identity, which dispelled homosexual propaganda and myths as having no scientific basis. These myths included the assertion that sexual orientation is biologically fixed, i.e., that homosexuals are “born that way” and that transgenderism is a medically accepted state. None of this is true. The researchers also revealed that homosexuals/lesbians and transgendered people have higher rates of anxiety, depression and suicide and experience behavioural problems, such as substance and domestic abuse and violence at higher rates than the general population.
The response to this article by homosexual activists was their customary approach, by way of attack, attack, attack. They claimed that the researchers were “anti-LGBTQ” promoters seeking to “marginalize” and mock people. The Journal, however, refused to retract the article, calling the homosexuals’ claim an exercise in distortion.
Standing up to these aggressive activists is an effective way to stop their intimidation tactics.
