WHEREAS homosexuals and lesbians organize annual public parades in Canadian towns and cities:
AND WHEREAS displays of simulated sex acts and nudity frequently take place during these parades;
AND WHEREAS S.173 of the Criminal Code prohibits indecent acts to take place in a public place;
AND WHEREAS, S.174 of the Criminal Code prohibits nudity in a public place;
AND WHEREAS in January, 2012, Judge John J. Douglas of the Ontario Superior Court ruled that public nudity is not an acceptable norm, since it is calculated to shock and, therefore, is against public order;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that police forces in communities in which gay pride parades are held be required to enforce Criminal Code provisions that prohibit public nudity and indecent acts during gay pride parades.
