The world has lost a wonderful human being, Mildred Bloomfield, on her death on October 16, 2015.
Mildred was a devoted supporter of REAL Women, and an outstanding wife and mother. She was the beloved wife of Garnet Bloomfield, a former Liberal MP for the then riding of London Middlesex. Garnet was only one of two members of the Liberal caucus to stand up to Prime Minister Trudeau to vote against the Charter of Rights because he believed that the Supreme Court of Canada would use its provisions to strike down the abortion law. This, sadly, is actually what occurred.
When her husband was Liberal MP, Mildred, ever supportive of Garnet, ran his constituency office for him.
Mildred and Garnet (a farmer by occupation) were happily married for 64 years. It should be noted according to Garnet, that Mildred was an exceptionally great tractor driver! Mildred was a loving partner, active in her church, and living her life in love and service of others.
