WHEREAS consideration is being given to the extension of family benefits to a wide range of non-traditional relationships characterized by emotional and financial dependencies, which may include homosexual and lesbian partners;
AND WHEREAS the Supreme Court of Canada in the Nesbitt and Egan case had declared that the traditional heterosexual family is a unique social unit fundamental to the stability and well-being of society;
AND WHEREAS the Supreme Court of Canada has declared that Parliament may, properly, as a valid social society, provide special recognition and support to the traditional heterosexual family will reduce the unique meaning, purpose and recognition given to the traditional family;
BE IT RESOLVED that family benefits be extended solely to the traditional husband and wife family.
