This week’s REALity Update is short, with one important message:  Vote Conservative!

REAL Women does not usually speak so assertively, but, during this historic election, we are doing so by strongly criticizing the Liberal government.  We believe that this is necessary because of our concern that the Liberal party may be re-elected, leading our country into a disastrous place which may destroy our nation.

During the past ten years under the Liberal government, prolife/family Canadians have experienced incredible discrimination because of our beliefs.  We are all aware that Justin Trudeau would not tolerate a prolife MP in his caucus.  He attempted to remove the charitable status from Pregnancy Care Centres, and there is a realistic possibility that the same threat will also assault our religious institutions, if the party gets re-elected.  Further, the Liberals prevented prolife individuals from participating in the summer jobs program and lavishly provided money to LGTBQ and feminist organizations.  One can only express shock and disgust with Trudeau’s donation of an incredible $11.2 billion taxpayer dollars, to developing nations to advance and encourage transgender policies there.  Trudeau has also abandoned families to despair due to high inflation, a lack of housing, out of control immigration, high unemployment and a broken medical system.  Social services have been replaced by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) which provides lethal injections by physicians, instead of medical treatment.  This is done to eliminate the poor, the disabled and the aged for cost/benefit reasons.  Canadians have suffered tremendously during the past ten years under the Liberals.  It is time for another government to assume power, to restore our country, economically, socially and spiritually.  We must renew hope for future generations.

Despite the fact that the 2025 federal election is the shortest on record, chosen deliberately by the Liberals to prevent a full public exposure of their new leader Carney from public scrutiny, it is nonetheless clear that Carney will bring us the same elitist policies based on woke ideology.  Carney has no intention of reducing the debt or balancing the budget.  On April 19, Carney introduced his proposed budget, which increases the national debt by $225 billion, nearly $100 billion more debt than Trudeau’s plan.  This will be added to the cumulative federal debt racked up by Trudeau which is now $1.26 trillion (debtclock.ca).  According to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Canada already pays $1 billion per week on interest on the debt.  This is more than Ottawa spends on health care payments to the provinces.   Carney’s plan will see interest charges on the debt of $5.6 billion over four years.  Poilievre’s costed plan would see payments fall by $2.4 billion over the same period – reducing the deficit by 70%.

The Liberals attempt to hide the last ten years of their disastrous failures and scandals will not change under Carney.  He was Trudeau’s economic advisor for the past five years, and the Liberal vision is moving toward doubling down and repeating the same catastrophic policies.

Did you ever wonder where Trudeau disappeared to since the election was called?  The Liberal ruling elites are keeping him out of sight, hidden from the public – neither seen nor heard.  He would be a reminder of the Liberal government’s colossal failure during the past ten years, which it wants the public to forget.  However, he will be replaced by his double, Carney, who wants to use Canada to expand his globalist vision of net-zero emissions.  He is indifferent to how this will affect the common person.

Carney has proven himself to be, unfortunately, a liar.  Examples of this include the moving of Brookfield Asset Management headquarters from Toronto to New York City, which Carney claims was not his decision even though he was CEO and Chairman of the Board. Carney claimed that he was responsible for former Finance Minister Paul Martin’s balanced budget, when he was not employed by him at that time.  Carney also lies by omission, failing to disclose his assets/conflicts of interest. Carney plagiarized his Ph.D. thesis at Oxford, and tolerates and accepts Chinese interference in our elections.  Carney refused to sit down for a one-on-one interview with Jordan Peterson and refused to participate in a French language debate with Quebec’s independent TVA.  He does not like to be contradicted or criticized and wants adulation instead.

Liberals A Threat to National Unity

It is not hyperbole to observe that the consequences of continued Liberal rule will only marginalize Canada and lead to the end of Confederation.  Alberta and Saskatchewan are two resource-rich provinces that are constantly taking a back seat to the eastern Laurentian elite’s view of Confederation that it should continue to control our natural resources.  Alberta in particular was harmed by the Liberals in the 1970s with Pierre Trudeau’s National Energy Program, and it is being harmed again, a generation later, by the same Liberal Party with its restriction on the oil and gas industry. It is a fair question for the West to ask:  What are we getting out of Confederation, why should we continue to allow current and future generations of elites to continue to abuse us in this dysfunctional union?  Alberta, Saskatchewan and even British Columbia are not limited to actually becoming the 51st State of the US but can instead negotiate independent economic ties to the US.

The Stark Choice

In stark contrast to Carney and the Liberals’ vision of deficits, zero-growth, fear, doom and gloom, Poilievre and the Conservative’s vision is that of balanced budgets, economic growth, hope and possibilities for national renewal.  This is not to suggest the Conservatives are perfect. Clearly, they are not.  However, they will be a better fit for our future health by bringing about a national renewal.

Very few times have Canadians faced such a remarkable, decisive choice.  The present Conservative party, unfortunately, is not socially conservative, but is the only viable alternative to Carney and the Liberals.

Whether Poilievre and the Conservatives can deliver has yet to be seen.  However, they deserve a chance to do so.  More importantly, once elected, it will be our responsibility to hold the Conservatives to their election promises and cease to allow the manipulation and authoritarianism imposed by the Liberals.  We must make our country great again, and a country of which we can be proud.
