Something disturbing is taking place in Canada behind the scenes.  Our government is refusing to address certain issues, and the government-funded media are refusing to report it.

Canada has become a safe haven for Chinese criminal triads, Mexican drug cartels and Iranian illicit activities.  This assessment of Canada was confirmed in a 2023 report from former U.S. State Department official, David Luna, who described Canada as a “safe zone” for Chinese triads and Mexican cartels.  The government in Ottawa has turned a blind eye to this dangerous development.  The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that it is no longer a police matter but has become a matter of national security and a national crisis.

REAL Women has obtained information for this article from Canadian and U.S. intelligence reports, and also from the book, Wilful Blindness written by BC investigative journalist, Sam Cooper, (Optimum Publishing International, May 2021).  This information is so startling and disturbing, even though it comes from legitimate sources, and seems so “unCanadian”, that it is difficult to believe and to accept that the safety of law-abiding citizens and national sovereignty are being so jeopardized.  However, the sources of information are credible, and therefore we have decided to bring this information to our members’ attention, as they should not be kept in the dark.

Communist Chinese Influence in Canada

There is no question that the Liberal Party has a close relationship with Communist China.  Pierre Trudeau, an admirer of former Communist leader, Mao Zedong, restored diplomatic relations with Communist China in 1970.  Canada was one of the first western countries to do so after the Communist takeover in 1949.  Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, whose son-in-law is a member of the powerful Quebec Desmarais family, which has heavy investments in China, annually led business delegations to China for many years.  According to Sam Cooper’s book, Wilful Blindness, Chinese investment has flooded into Chrétien’s riding of Shawinigan, Quebec (See Chapter 6, page 46).  Justin Trudeau has publicly admitted his admiration of China, and has made no secret of China’s close financial relationship with the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.  Mark Carney has had close ties with Chinese leaders since he was CEO of Brookfield Asset Management.  He welcomed as Liberal candidates, individuals who had close ties with Beijing in the April 2025 federal election.

The reason for Communist China’s intense interest in Canada is two-fold: (1) our close proximity to the United States; and (2) our immense natural resources.  China is determined to dominate the 21st century, and supplant the United States’ power and influence.  Chinese President, Xi Jinping, has repeatedly affirmed China’s global ambitions, and is willing to do what is necessary to achieve this goal.  Every action by China, therefore, must be viewed through a national security lens as China is focused on global expansion to create leverage against the United States.  It wants to ensure that by 2049, the Chinese yuan will be the world’s reserve currency, instead of the U.S. dollar.

Cash is used to influence and corrupt politicians to create “bonds of obligations” whereby the Chinese Communist Party can interfere in democratic processes.  Canada’s proximity to the United States is convenient to enable China to create chaos and disruption.  Carney’s government has actively contributed to fostering an anti-Trump sentiment in Canada, which benefits the Liberal Party as well as China. The media plays a key role in this, often presenting Carney as saving Canada from Trump, and undermining Trump at every opportunity.

Federal authorities in Ottawa have been aware since 1993 that China had targeted Canada for exploitation.  A Canadian intelligence report that year, entitled, Passports of Convenience, warned that Chinese government officials were in collusion with Chinese criminal triads to infiltrate Canada.  The report predicted that tens of thousands of immigrants from China would flood into North America empowered by Beijing, and that some of these immigrants intended to launch illicit activities in this country.  Intense immigration from China occurred around 1999 when Britain’s 99-year lease with Hong Kong expired and Communist China took control of the territory.  Starting in 1997, 200,000 Chinese immigrated to Canada.  Among these immigrants were the leaders of criminal triads.  The Beijing government gave them new identities to allow their entry into Canada.  Their role in Canada was to infiltrate into Canadian society, which they have successfully done both politically and financially.  A subsequent intelligence report (which, according to Sam Cooper, was destroyed before reaching the highest echelons of the Canadian government) warned Canada of further activities by Communist infiltration by way of credit card fraud, criminal intimidation, extortion, blackmail, prostitution, gambling and money laundering.  This has in fact occurred.

At the time of this massive Chinese immigration to Canada, Macau, the former Portuguese territory which was also ceded back to Communist China in 1999, was involved in illegal casino gambling, prostitution, money laundering, loansharking etc., but it was obvious that the Communists would be putting restraints on such activity.  Conveniently at that same time, the NDP government of B.C. was expanding its gambling policies by introducing lucrative baccarat tables, increasing gambling monetary limits, and expanding gambling hours.  This led to the Macau criminals transferring their entire operations to Vancouver where it resumed its customary activities.

Canada’s porous border with the United States was a major incentive for drug and human trafficking into the U.S.  Chinese criminals operate fentanyl labs throughout B.C., which, with only a few exceptions, have continued to operate without legal consequences from authorities.  Casinos in Vancouver provided billions of dollars used for money laundering and money to purchase luxurious mansions in the Vancouver area.  Warehouses used to store chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs, were brought directly from China through unchecked Canadian borders.  One intelligence report states that casinos in British Columbia laundered drug money that provided $1.6 billion in annual benefits for the province.  Although the casinos in B.C. were supposedly managed by the B.C. Lottery Corporation (B.C.L.C.), some of the government regulators of the casinos became connected financially to the triad networks and ignored many of the lapses in the activities at the casinos.

Moreover, many vulnerable ethnic Chinese immigrants to Canada were kept under surveillance and seriously threatened by the illegal Chinese police stations established in Canada to monitor the situation here.  The RCMP reported in 2023, that it had shut down Chinese “police stations” not only in B.C., but also in Ontario and Quebec.  However, this intimidation of innocent Chinese immigrants is continuing.  Chinese triads, according to Canadian intelligence reports, also use indigenous land to produce drugs but also to traffic in firearms, leading to violence and firebombings linked to enforcement groups.  Some Canadian politicians have nefarious links to these underworld activities, but such links are ignored by the legacy media. The cost of housing has quickly risen in Vancouver with criminals purchasing luxurious houses to carry out illegal casino activities, prostitution, and other illicit activities.  Yet federal authorities look the other way, and high-powered firearm trafficking has become a growing sophisticated operation of the Chinese triads.  This is an appalling account of what is happening in Canada due to Communist China’s interference here, which is being largely ignored and unchecked.

Mexican Drug Cartels

Mexican drug cartels experienced a game changer when they began trafficking fentanyl.  This was because fentanyl is made synthetically with chemicals shipped by Chinese chemical companies to Mexican super labs.  No longer did the drug traffickers have to rely on farmers using plant-based drugs, which were dependent on sunlight, irrigation and harvesting for the poppies that produced heroin.  Instead, fentanyl could be mass-produced all year round and easily trafficked through the porous U.S. – Mexico border.

This intense fentanyl trafficking infuriated U.S. President Donald Trump.  According to the Globe and Mail (August 2, 2025), Trump effectively dealt with this problem.  He first immediately sealed the porous U.S. – Mexico border which had been wide open under his Democrat predecessor, Joe Biden.  He then threatened Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, with heavy tariffs unless she cracked down on the Mexican drug cartels.  The Mexican President immediately took massive action against the Mexican fentanyl lab traffickers.  As a result, twenty-nine (29) drug capos are now in Mexican prisons waiting to be extradited to the U.S.  Trump’s successful disruption of drug trafficking from Mexico caused the Mexican fentanyl super labs to be hastily re-established in Canada so that they can enter the U.S. from the northern border between Canada and the U.S.

These labs were established in southern Ontario and Quebec on Six Nations indigenous territory of the Grand River, into Brantford, along the St. Lawrence River and directly to the U.S. border.  This corridor became a protected staging ground for the Mexican cartels.  Though their factories were operating on indigenous lands, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made it clear that they were operated and controlled by non-indigenous organized crime syndicates.  The reason why indigenous lands were especially advantageous to the Mexican cartels was due to s. 87 of the Indian Act which permits tax exemptions, particularly on tobacco, which became another source of trafficking for the cartels.  Mexican government authorities have stated that Canada is responsible for the loss of 12% of tax revenue for their government, because of illicit cigarettes produced on Six Nations territory.  The cartels introduced up to 500 million illegal cigarettes a year, trafficked into Mexico.  A Canadian intelligence report released last year, stated that the more than 73 illicit factories operating over the past twenty years on aboriginal land are linked to 173 organized crime groups, which eventually included both the Mexican and Chinese networks.  The federal government has not addressed this problem on the Six Nations land.  However, a Six Nations police force in “Project Roll the Dice” carried out on May 2, 2025, raided the fentanyl trafficking on the land, and seized 58 grams of fentanyl, 17 grams of cocaine, Canadian currency, drug packaging materials, digital scales and multiple cell phones.  In addition, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a project called “Project Panda”, assisted by multiple other agencies, raided factories and sites located on indigenous reserves on May 1st and 2nd, 2025.  The targets spanned Six Nations, Brantford and Ancaster – territories sitting between Hamilton, Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY.  What they found was staggering:  1,360 lbs. of illegal cannabis, 3.16 kg of psilocybin (magic mushrooms), 15 firearms, and large skids of contraband tobacco valued at over $3 million.  These factories were surrounded by barb wire fences and trader trucks.  They were operated by non-indigenous criminal networks who did not reside on the reserves.

Confidential intelligence sources also report that Mexican cartels are operating not only in these illicit factories, but also in the casinos located on the reserves.  They are protected by the persistent political unwillingness in Ottawa to confront this threat to society and vulnerable indigenous families living on the reserves.

Iranian Influence in Canada

Irwin Cotler, a former Liberal Justice Minister, has stated that Iranian sleeper cells have been activated and are operational in this country.  Sleeper cells are comprised of spies or terrorists that remain inactive, often living quiet and unassuming lives working regular jobs until they are essentially ordered to act by their government.  In a report in June 2025, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) confirmed that it is investigating threats to life coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It appears that Iranian intelligence is increasingly collaborating with international criminal organizations to target journalists, dissidents, Jewish citizens, and current and former officials in rival countries.  The Iranian government is also responsible for funding the terrorist groups: the Hezbollah (Lebanon) and Hamas (Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood) and the Houthis (from Yemen which attack traffic in the Red Sea).

CSIS said Iran is also using proxies, such as criminal networks to go after perceived enemies of the Iranian government living in Canada.  The Intelligence report stated that there have been many threats and much intimidation against those individuals who have immigrated to Canada from Iran.  Many of these recent arrivals are not sympathetic to the Islamic regime and are endangered by the Iranian cells operating here.  Canada has been recently described by Alireza Nader, an analyst for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies – a Washington D.C. Think Tank, as “the most infiltrated country in the Western world.” (National Post, July 19, 2025).  Iranian citizens have been placed under surveillance in Canada, and information about them is conveyed to intelligence in Iran who visit the relatives of the person under surveillance, to intimidate and threaten them.  An example of recent intimidation here was the Iranian candidate who ran for the nomination for the Conservative party in a Richmond Hill riding in Ontario, in the April 2025 federal election.  He was subjected to a smear campaign, threats and intimidation, which forced him to withdraw from the race.  In June 2025, just after the U.S. bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities, a rally “Hands-off Iran”, was held in downtown Toronto, organized by Iranian government supporters.  There are approximately 400,000 Iranians who have immigrated to Canada, and it is believed that the majority of them oppose the Iranian government.  They are experiencing tensions because these Iranian arrivals live with troubling anxiety about Iranian government threats to them.  This causes fear among Canadian Iranians.  The CSIS report states that it is taking these threats seriously and investigating them, but, to date, there has been no curtailment of this unlawful activity.

Conclusion

The federal government has jurisdiction over drug policy in Canada as well as national security.  Yet it has not taken action to stop the operation of Chinese triads, Mexican drug cartels and Iranian interference here.  In addition, with full knowledge of these unfortunate developments, the government has in fact exacerbated the problem.  In 2016, Justin Trudeau’s government lifted Visa requirements for Mexican nationals.  This resulted in many more Mexicans, including the criminal element, entering Canada, the consequence of which was that the government was required to reinstate the Visa requirements to stop the flow.  The October 2018 decriminalization of drugs, starting with the gateway drug cannabis, contributed to criminal profiteering.  The Liberal government’s approval of drug consumption sites has given addicts greater access to drugs because drug traffickers are allowed to circulate in the vicinity of these sites as police do not lay charges for trafficking taking place near the sites.  U.S. officials have repeatedly raised concerns about Canada’s loose drug policies in high level bilateral meetings with Canadian officials.  The latter continue to downplay the risks, frustrating joint law enforcement efforts, which compound the situation.

It has been many years since the Liberal Party has been regarded as a political party having integrity.  It has allowed corruption to be introduced into most aspects of the party’s operations and subsequently into every aspect of Canadian political life.  Simply put, individuals within the Liberal government, both politicians and bureaucrats, who have authority without checks on their behaviour are benefitting financially, politically and socially.  These individuals in positions of authority are in fact benefitting beyond their expectations or competence levels and therefore believe that there is no need to rock the boat by strengthening the laws against the prevailing criminal activity taking place in Canada.  This failure to act is indefensible.  It is deeply affecting Canadian security and safety as well as our economy and national sovereignty.

According to credible sources, Canadians and their families are vulnerable and threatened by the failure of the federal Liberal government to protect their safety from foreign governments which send criminals to this country.  It appears that for Liberals, Canadians are merely useful tools to serve foreign governments.  On so many issues, the Liberals continue to have little concern or interest in Canadian families’ safety or the values that once made Canada a sovereign nation.
